Inner City Institute

The Inner-City Institute, Incorporated (the Institute) was founded to promote equity and excellence for youth and adults in selected underserved Boston communities.  Though outreach efforts and special projects our mission is to bridge the great divide in critical areas related to the personal growth and development of our targeted population.  By forming community partnerships the Institute will strive to serve as a catalyst for fostering positive social change.  We believe that such partnerships are key to strengthening our anticipated outcomes and other opportunities for community advancements.

The Founder and CEO of Inner City Institute, Tammarrah Lee, Ed.D. has an extensive professional background in community-based and public education programs.  As a native of Bostonian, Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and both a Masters and Doctorate degree in Education.  She has devoted her career to giving back to her community with commitment, dedication and enthusiasm to make a difference.

The Institute offers programs and services in four key areas:

  • Skills Training
  • Consultation and Education
  • Resource Development
  • Research and Evaluation

To achieve our goal, five primary objectives have been identified:

  1. To provide skills training activities for youth and adult learners
  2. To develop professional development workshops and seminars for community-based service providers
  3. To establish an interactive multimedia information resource network
  4. To host quarterly community outreach forums for leadership and empowerment
  5. To conduct specialized evaluation and needs assessment projects for targeted population groups
