Jan. 21st, 2007 in the Clark Athletic Center at the University of Massachusetts - Boston

Over five hundred spectators witnessed The First Annual Basketball X-Perts Big Three vs. Boston City League Challenge that took place in the Clark Athletic Center at the University of Massachusetts - Boston. The Challenge featured the Bulldogs of Boston English High School and the Jets of East Boston High School from the Boston City League. The Whalers of New Bedford High School and the Boxers of Brockton High School represented the Big Three League.

Both games were very exciting to watch. The opening game showcased Boston English vs. New Bedford. Daquanh Rawlins led English (25pts) as they pulled out the win, outscoring New Bedford 66-51. Kellon Gonsalves led New Bedford with 17pts. East Boston and Brockton played to a near standstill in the first half, with Eastie holding a two point lead (37-35). Elezar Clayton helped East Boston (19pts) separate themselves for good in the second half. East Boston won the game running away, 90-68. Kyle Gerry led Brockton with 18pts.

The Boston City League leads the Basketball X-Perts Big Three vs. Boston City League Challenge series 2-0. We look forward to the Big Three League rebounding next year. They will have to do it without Coach Ed Rodriguez from New Bedford and Victor Sanchez of Brockton who have both announced their retirement at the close of the 2006-2007 basketball season.
